Hello!
Since I now only race and ride in Europe (Belgium etc), and no longer Sweden, I have decided to do all of my updates in english instead. So yesterday was my first competition ever abroad. My dad told me that it like a small competition at a track that they built up every year in a field. That was partly true, but it turned out to be one of the Belgian federation’s championship. In total, there were maybe 16-17 women riding in their ”Mx Dames” class. There were 8 in class A, were I rode, and the rest were in class B. I was supposed to ride in class B, since this is my first competition in a while, and it was just for the experience, but they put me in class A anyways. The track was really on a big field with three ”jumps”, but they were more like bumps. The entire track was pretty long, and it consisted of a lot of tricky curves. It was also really flat, as you can see on the pictures. In Sweden, this would be considered as easier enduro, but it was a lot of fun, and not at all like the competitions that I have ridden before.
First it was a practice at nine o clock, then the first heat was at eleven and the second one at half past three. I went there a bit earlier to get a ”one day license”, which was really cheap if you compare to Sweden and SVEMO’s licenses. The first practice went fine, but it was only ten minutes in total, so I rode maybe 3 or 4 laps. But the track was fun and I got to practice a bit. Before the first heat I was a bit nervous, but not as much as usual. My start was fine, but unfortunately, my bike raised in the beginning, but I think I was the fourth rider to the first curve. The first heat was a lot of fun. I had one girl behind me throughout the race, until she passed me in the end, but than her bike turned off in a curve so I could pass again. I finished five in total in the first heat. One thing was that I got a lot of cramp, in both of the heats, so in the last 2-3 laps, I felt my arms and my position getting worse and worse.
The second heat was also exciting. I got an okay start, and I was fifth away to the first curve. In the third or fourth curve, I came in with too much speed, and I went over the mound and into the audience. So I turned around and went back into the race, completely last. So in the second heat, I worked on a lot of passing people. I rode myself up to sixth place, which I am very happy with. Which means I finished 5 in total, and I think that is really good for my first competition of the year, and also abroad.
I really enjoyed this competition, and I think this is the first competition where I really fought for a place. I will definitely try to ride another time at one of these competitions. And it is very practical since I live in Belgium, and all of my motocross stuff are here.
I did not ride today, partly because I am a bit sick, and also because almost no tracks are open on mondays here in Belgium. But tomorrow, if I am still not sick, we will go and ride at Hélécine, and that is going to be fun. In that case, we will be working on jumps and tight curves. I am looking forward to it!
